Search efforts are underway for an experienced hiker missing on the South Island's West Coast

Search efforts are underway for an experienced hiker missing on the South Island's West Coast

75-year-old Roy is overdue from a walk up Mount Davy to Mount Sewell, north-east of Greymouth yesterday.

He may be wearing a blue puffer jacket, shorts and hiking boots.

Police Search and Rescue teams, LANDSAR volunteers and a Police Search and Rescue dog are out in alpine conditions canvassing areas and tracks he may have taken.

There's concern for Roy's wellbeing given the length of time he been missing and the cold temperatures.
