New expert evidence has brought a Christchurch man's murder case back before the courts

New expert evidence has brought a Christchurch man's murder case back before the courts

Lon Reti was jailed for life for killing Leslie Edmonds in 1999.

His appeal was dismissed the same year and a 2003 hearing was also unsuccessful.

The Criminal Cases Review Commission's found aspects of Reti's life and history were relevant to his response at the time of the killing.

Chief Commissioner Denis Clifford says this evidence wasn't heard by the jury or Court of Appeal.

He says this case is an example of the Commission doing what it was set up to do.
