The future of a prominent sportsman, on trial in Dunedin, will soon be in the hands of a jury

The future of a prominent sportsman, on trial in Dunedin, will soon be in the hands of a jury

The high profile figure is accused of causing 13 rib fractures and a broken collarbone to an infant in July 2023.

His defence says the man would never risk a child's safety, and insist the baby could've been hurt through a severe vitamin D deficiency or underlying bone fragility.

The court heard both the Crown and defence's closing arguments on Friday, with Judge David Robinson expected to sum up the case today.

The man's pleaded not guilty to charges of injuring with reckless disregard and assault.
