New efforts to accommodate those recovering from spinal injuries

New efforts to accommodate those recovering from spinal injuries

The Laura Ferguson Trust has just completed the first of 160 homes in Auckland, specially designed for people to transition out of hospital without disrupting rehab.

Currently, many people with these injuries are being discharged into motels, rest homes or private hospitals - or are left with nowhere to go.

Trust Chief Executive Ray Finch says they're trying to prioritise convenience.

He says says a big part of the organisation's advocacy is to provide community housing across all of Auckland.
