Some good news.. and bad news.. for Auckland public transport users

The Eastern Train Line has reopened after nine months of work on aging track foundations and drainage, with work now starting on improving the Western Line.

But public transport fares are set to rise in the coming weeks, by an average of 6.2 percent or 40-cents per ride.

Auckland Transport Public Transport Manager Stacey van der Putten says costs are rising, and some of that has to be passed on.

She says the cost of things like fuel has increased substantially in recent years.
