The Police crackdown on youth crime in Christchurch is welcome news to retailers

The Police crackdown on youth crime in Christchurch is welcome news to retailers

An Eagle helicopter has been launched today as part of a two-month operation targeting youth-related offending - which has peaked in the southern city in the last two weeks.

Retail NZ CEO Carolyn Young says Christchurch is a crime hotspot and retailers feel worried and frustrated.

She says retailers just want to focus on serving customers - so they're hoping for a crime free Christmas without that fear hanging over them.
