A marine search and rescue training exercise will be conducted off Port Taranaki today

A marine search and rescue training exercise will be conducted off Port Taranaki today

The multi-agency exercise is set to test and improve the coordination and response capabilities of all agencies involved in maritime emergencies.

Taranaki Search and Rescue Coordinator Wade Callander says the exercise will involve rescue vessels.

He says people might notice smoke markers, objects in the water and life rafts as part of the scenario.

Normal marine traffic should proceed with caution and follow any instructions from authorities.
