Tour of Southland leader Tom Sexton is crediting his home race as a career inspiration

The Invercargill-bred cyclist will don the orange jersey after claiming the second stage in a group sprint.

Sexton is grateful for the event, albeit with this edition postponed from November to January due to storms.

148 kilometres of riding from Riverton to Te Anau starts at 10am.
