Sexual assault charges have been dropped against former University of Otago pro-chancellor Bruce Aitken

The 75-year-old appeared in Dunedin District Court this morning charged with unlawful sexual connection and indecent assault involving a boy under 12.

The defence applied to have the charges dismissed - which was not opposed by the Crown.

Crown counsel James Collins confirmed no evidence was to be offered.
