Bryson DeChambeau has emerged from the pack with a three-under-par 67 to claim the third-round US Open lead at Pinehurst

Bryson DeChambeau has emerged from the pack with a three-under-par 67 to claim the third-round US Open lead at Pinehurst

Fellow American Patrick Cantlay, Northern Ireland's Rory McIlroy (69) and France's Matthieu Pavon are all three strokes back.

DeChambeau's lead grew to four before a late double bogey threatened to halt his momentum, but he picked up a shot at 17 and says the crowd set him up for success.

Sweden's Ludvig Aberg , who began the day with a one-stroke lead, shot 73 and is tied at two under.
