    A second round defeat for tennis player Lulu Sun at the Madrid Open


    The New Zealander's been beaten 6-3 6-2 by 2020 Australian Open champion Sofia Kenin at the clay court event.

    Top seed Aryna Sabalenka , third seed Jessica Pegula and sixth seed Jasmine Paolini have all advanced.

    In the men's event - eighth seed Holger Rune has withdrawn injured after losing the first set of his second round match against Italian Flavio Cobolli .

    Those safely through include Alexander Zverev, Taylor Fritz, Ben Shelton and Casper Ruud - Daniil Medvedev and Andrey Rublev won via walkover.
