Concerns of food-borne illness at Auckland Japanese restaurant, Taiko.

Concerns of food-borne illness at Auckland Japanese restaurant, Taiko.

New Zealand Food Safety was informed a number of people had become unwell - in an outbreak associated with the Ponsonby eatery.

Deputy director-general Vincent Arbuckle says they've visited the restaurant and are working to see if corrective action is needed.

He says they're also investigating with the registering authority, Auckland Council.

A Taiko spokesperson says the restaurant is fully cooperating.
