A new purpose-built forensic mental health facility's opened at Auckland's Mason Clinic - which serves nearly two million people across the Northern Region

This marks the end of a 15-year programme to relocate the last patients from ageing units affected by weather-tightness and air quality issues.

The 60-bed multi-story E Tu Wairua Hinengaro building allows modern models of care...and a further 57 fulltime staff will be recruited for it.

Patients will be moved into the unit over several months, starting from the end of February.
