A faster, higher resolution CT scanner has started operating at Christchurch Hospital

A faster, higher resolution CT scanner has started operating at Christchurch Hospital

New Zealand's very first "Photon Counting" CT scanner, provides significantly sharper imaging than conventional machines.

The idea is to improve patient care and reduce pressure on staff, as part of Health New Zealand's digital innovation programme.

Health NZ's CEO Dr Dale Bramley says the benefits of the new scanner is an example of how digital innovation can support better health outcomes.

He says they'll continue to invest in technologies that support our teams to give patients better access to treatments they need.
