Dunedin is taking road safety to new heights

Later this week, work will be completed on a "smart" crossing that incorporates illuminated signage and LED lights.

This will be situated outside Kaikorai Valley College where students have reported a number of near misses.

On top of this, a new type of road marking called 'dragons teeth' are going to be added to several school crossings on Bay View Road.

Both of these new concepts have been used overseas and appear to be effective.
