Questions are being asked over why parts of the country have suffered power cuts due to insufficient power being genertated

Welnet, the power distributor for the Hamilton area says it has been instructed by Transpower, the national Grid Operator to reduce load on its system

This resulted in rolling outages cross the region. Unison, which covers Hawkes Bay, Taupo and Rotorua also had to make rolling cuts

Transpower says the issue should be being resolved about now

The grid operator has asked distribution companies to reduce load because there was not enough power available to meet demand and manage a secure system.
