It's full steam ahead for a local Wellington gaming company, as the sector continues to boom

The video game sector as a whole grew 26 percent in 2024, and the industry's projected to be worth worth 1 billion dollars by 2029.

PikPok, which develops, distributes and sells games, has seen more than 500 million global downloads.

Chief executive Mario Wynands says demand for games continues to grow.

He says while people find the cost of living going up, usually people can still find a few dollars for escapism, whether it's going to the movies or buying video games.
