The centre of Tropical Cyclone Alfred is expected to cross the coast early Saturday morning, most likely between Noosa and Coolangatta, bringing destructive winds and the risk of life-threatening flooding.
The system is expected to make landfall between the Gold Coast and southern parts of the Wide Bay region as a category two cyclone.
If it does, it will be the first cyclone to cross Queensland's southern coast in half a century.

- The current warning zone listed by BOM includes cities and towns from Double Island Point to Grafton, including Brisbane, Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast, Byron Bay and Ballina but not including Grafton.
- There is no current watch zone.
- People living within those areas should consider what action they will need to take if the cyclone threat increases, according to BOM.
