Young people in the justice system say they want to be prioritised in decision-making

Young people in the justice system say they want to be prioritised in decision-making

A new report from JustSpeak and Amnesty International places rangatahi voices at the centre of youth justice issues.

Key findings of the two-year research project include young peoples' desires for full family-focused support - and investment in crime prevention.

JustSpeak Board Chair Katie Perkins says a common thread was rangatahi wanting to be part of the solution.

She says adults tend to ignore youth suggestions - despite their knowledge and lived experiences.
