A local councillor's condemning the actions of a Destiny's Church linked group, who tried to block a pre-planned Sikh parade in Auckland

A video shows a group named the "True Patriots of NZ" performing a haka, wearing shirts saying "Kiwis First", and confronting the cultural celebration on Great South Road yesterday afternoon.

Additional officers were called in to escort the parade safely.

Manurewa-Papakura Ward Councillor Daniel Newman, says it's hugely frustrating.

He says the community is offended and affronted.

Newman says some involved in the patriots group don't know what they're talking about, and are ignorant.
