Clutha drivers are being urged to take extra caution today, with snow and ice still on the roads

Contractors are out checking conditions - as this week's heavy snow melts throughout the district.

A Council spokesperson says the large remaining snow drifts may force high-altitude hill roads to stay closed until they're cleared.

They're asking people not to assume any hill road is drivable today.
