Fire crews have contained a blaze in the Otago settlement of Warrington

Fire crews have contained a blaze in the Otago settlement of Warrington

A Fire and Emergency spokesperson says crew were called to Warrington Domain, about 25 kilometres north of Dunedin, just before 2pm.

Southern Communications shift manager Andrew Norris says several crews remain at the fire which covered a couple of hundred square metres.

He says firefighters were successful in protecting a nearby sea lion breeding area.

The cause of the fire will be investigated.
