A horror end to a wedding in rural Canterbury yesterday..

A helicopter, carrying newlyweds and a photographer, crashed on to a golf course at the Terrace Downs Resort in the Selwyn District.

The passengers and pilot were injured -- three with serious injuries and one with moderate injuries -- and taken to Christchurch Hospital.

CPG Hotels group operations manager Ronnie Ronalde says the party had gone to take wedding photos and crashed shortly after takeoff.

He says there were some golfers around, one was a golfer and called the clubhouse.
