A scrub fire in Lower Hutt has been extinguished but firefighters are back there dealing with hot spots

A scrub fire in Lower Hutt has been extinguished but firefighters are back there dealing with hot spots

Fire and Emergency was called to the blaze in the hills above Naenae, just after four yesterday afternoon.

Two helicopters were used and 11 crews attended the fire.

The aerial attack had to be suspended just before night fell because a drone was being flown near the blaze.

Shift manager Murray Dunbar says crews left just after 9.30pm.

He says they've returned this morning and are damping down.
