Police in Otago have located a person wanted in relation to alleged firearms offending

The Otago Daily Times reports officers were seen this morning retrieving firearms from an overturned van, near Clutha's Owaka.

Armed Police then blocked Hunt Road, and put nearby properties into lockdown, asking locals to evacuate the immediate area.

Police say they've now located the suspect at a rural property.

They say the situation's contained - and there is currently no risk to the public.
