A slip is restricting a part of State Highway 73, near the Westland District town of Jacksons, as strong winds continue

Stop/go traffic management is in place and NZTA's urging people to take extra care driving through the area.

NZTA's had a general strong wind warning in place for the entire South Island today, with road users asked to take extra care, especially when driving lighter vehicles.

Contractors have responded to a number of reports of fallen trees on state highways around Canterbury and the West Coast.
