    A head on crash has closed State Highway One near Wellsford, north of Auckland


    Two people have been taken to hospital with serious injuries.

    Police were called to the scene near Mangawhai Road about 2.15.

    There are diversions in place for traffic in both directions.

    The road's expected to be closed for some time while the Serious Crash Unit examines the scene.
