Kapiti Coast is deemed safe and sound, following this morning's strong earthquake

Kapiti Coast is deemed safe and sound, following this morning's strong earthquake

The five-point-eight tremor hit about 30 kilometres northwest of Levin, just before 8am.

Kapiti Coast District Mayor K Gurunathan says it's a timely reminder there are other hazards to be aware of, other than covid-19.

He says it was a relief to have no initial reports of serious issues, and hopes it will continue that way.
