    A fire along thev Nuhaka-Opoutama Road in windy conditions in the Mahia area south of Gisborne was caused by falling powerlines


    It's burning in a 60 by 40 metre area of vegetation beside a river -- however the blaze is now contained.

    Two pumps, two tankers and a rural crew were sent at 10:40 this morning.

    Police say access in and out of Mahia is limited -- as the Nuhaka-Opoutama Road is blocked.
