Two house fires overnight have kept crews busy in Wellington

Firefighters were first called to a house fire in Johnsonville shortly after 1.30 this morning, arriving to find it well alight.

Just before 3.30 they were alerted to a second house fire in Waikanae, again arriving to find it well involved.

Extra crews had to be called in to help extinguish both.

Investigations are being carried out into the causes but neither is being treated as suspicious.
