Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency says contractors have put in overtime to repair highways struck by rain which wreaked havoc across the lower south on the weekend.
A spokesperson says the only routes which remain closed are State Highway 82, between Kurow and Ikawai - and State Highway 83, between Otematata and Aviemore.
However work is continuing at both sites.
Damage on State Highway 83 will require reconstruction of the road approaching the Parsons Creek Bridge near Otematata.
