A man's appearing in court today over a fight in Lower Hutt's Wainuiomata that left a man seriously injured

A man's appearing in court today over a fight in Lower Hutt's Wainuiomata that left a man seriously injured

Officers were called to a supermarket carpark on The Strand on Saturday night - but those involved drove away before Police arrived.

Shortly after, emergency services were called to Riverside Drive where a man was found in his vehicle with serious injuries.

Police say they believe it followed a road rage incident.

A 23-year-old man will face a charge of wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm in Lower Hutt District Court today.

Police say they're still wanting to hear from witnesses, as the supermarket was open at the time of the alleged assault.
