All eyes will be on the Government's arrival at Waitangi this morning, after two powhiri over the weekend welcomed Opposition parties, and the Kiingitanga

All eyes will be on the Government's arrival at Waitangi this morning, after two powhiri over the weekend welcomed Opposition parties, and the Kiingitanga

It's the third time this year the Government will face opposition over its proposed Treaty Principles Bill - after Ratana, and a hui at Turangawaewae last month.

Fighting words from Labour, the Greens and Te Pati Maori have promised to defend Te Tiriti o Waitangi in the face of the Government's proposed bill.

Korero from tangata whenua has urged unity and peace, but also made it clear their feelings and frustrations would be made known to the Government.

With Waitangi Day crowds expected to be the largest in decades, there's a sense of anticipation ahead of the arrival of National, Act and New Zealand First MPs - set for mid morning.
