Act says all political parties should condemn pellets being fired at a New Plymouth councillor's car

Act says all political parties should condemn pellets being fired at a New Plymouth councillor's car

Legislation passed last week to let councils get rid of their Maori wards, and New Plymouth District Council yesterday voted to retain its Ward.

Councillor Murray Chong abstained - saying he feared voting against - after finding a bullet dent in his ute.

Act Leader David Seymour says that's unacceptable.

He says you can have a different view but never intimidate someone voting on behalf of the public.

A vote by Kaipara Councillors today made them the first in the country to disestablish their Maori ward.
