A strong political legacy has been left by Dame Tariana Turia

Turia died in the early hours of Friday at the age of 80.

Te Pati Maori co-leader Debbie Ngarewa Packer told Te Ao Maori News she led by example.

She says Tariana taught them that they should never be shy - and they must be bold, and cross thresholds.
