Power has been restored to most in the Gisborne region after heavy rain caused flooding

Power has been restored to most in the Gisborne region after heavy rain caused flooding

Tairawhiti's under a state of emergency - with more heavy rain expected to start falling about now - with a MetService Red warning in place until 7am tomorrow.

Eastland Network says 115 customers are still without power in small pockets - but they have significant faults - with poles and wires down, flooding and other damage.

It says their power won't be restored tonight.
