Rotorua's emergency housing is seeing increasing amounts of violence

Rotorua's emergency housing is seeing increasing amounts of violence

A council committee meeting has revealed a third of family harm calls each week in the city, are to emergency housing motels.

Family lawyer Mihi James says victims of domestic violence are returning to the perpetrators, simply because safe emergency accommodation is lacking.

She says there's an increasing number of people using drugs - which is at the heart of many of the problems.
