A teenager stuck in strong waters around New Plymouth has safely made it back to shore

Police launched a water rescue operation at Paritutu Beach last night, after receiving a call of a teen caught in a rip.

The teen was rescued, and was in moderate condition.

Police say the outcome could've been much worse, and they had a rescue helicopter set to go.

The drowning toll for this summer stands at two, from Christmas weekend.
