    Emergency services are responding to a car accident in Waikato, which has injured three people


    Police say the two-vehicle collision was reported shortly after three o'clock this afternoon at Te Poi on State Highway 24.

    A spokesperson says initial reports suggest one person is in a critical condition and two people have been seriously hurt.

    The road is expected to be closed for several hours and diversions are in place on Davidson and Te Poi Road.

    Serious Crash Unit inquiries are underway.
