    A woman's in hospital in a serious, but stable condition, after a firearms incident in Palmerston North suburb of Takaro


    Police were called to Tremaine Avenue about 7.30pm on Friday, after reports of a shooting.

    One person was found in a critical condition with injuries consistant with a gunshot wound and she remains in hospital.

    Those involved are known to each other and there's not believed to be ongoing risk to the wider community.

    Police say they're following positive lines of enquiry.
