    A man has serious injuries understood to have been stabbed with an eel spear, in suburban Hastings


    Police say a 19-year-old man has been charged with wounding with intent to do grievous bodily harm - after the assault on Wall Road about six o'clock last night.

    Our newsroom understands the the victim was stabbed in the stomach, with an eel spear.

    The injured man was taken to Hawke's Bay Hospital.
