    Emergency services winched a pilot out of the water last night, after ditching their plane in Tasman Bay, 42 kilometres north of Nelson


    Two helicopters, multiple boats and a New Zealand Defence Force Poseidon aircraft began responding to the crash around 7.30pm.

    The pilot was the only person on-board the light aircraft and is in Nelson Hospital.
