A man who allegedly flew out of Whangarei under Level 3 without the correct documentation - is under investigation

It's been reported the man flew from Whangarei to Wellington on Saturday and spent a night in a hotel before flying on to Queenstown.

Police allege he did not have an appropriate travel exemption nor permission to leave Whangarei.

Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern says she's been advised the man was travelling for employment - but did not have the necessary documentation.

She says she understand the man's self-isolating and the Ministry of Health's working with police on the issue.
