    Queenstown Rees Hotel has been fined 22 thousand dollars for selling illegally caught crayfish - as part of a pricey luxury experience


    The package involved flying groups to remote locations - at up to 8000 dollars a pop - to watch a diver gather crays.

    The hotel didn't keep records on sales of the recreationally caught kaimoana - so the scale was unclear.

    Its owners were sentenced and fined in Queenstown District Court yesterday.
