Two 13-year-olds are accused of driving more than 560 kilometres from Invercargill to Christchurch, in a stolen Uber Eats car

Two 13-year-olds are accused of driving more than 560 kilometres from Invercargill to Christchurch, in a stolen Uber Eats car

The teens allegedly stole the car on Saturday night as the driver dropped off food.

Police allege the pair drove the car for more than seven hours - stealing petrol along the way.

Senior Sergeant Mel Robertson says the fact such young individuals travelled across the South Island without serious injury is extremely fortunate.

Police are still investigating and urge anyone with information to come forward.
