    Investigations are underway after a fleeing motorcyclist died in central Christchurch


    Emergency services were called to the intersection of Barbadoes Street and Edgeware Road just before midnight.

    Canterbury Metro Area Commander Superintendent Lane Todd says the motorcyclist was signalled to stop, but didn't and fled - later colliding with a car.

    He says Police didn't pursue.

    Todd says they will be referring the incident to the IPCA, and Serious Crash and Critical Incident investigations are in their early stages.

    Anyone who saw what happened is asked to come forward.
