A declaration of love in the Wellington City Council debating chamber, a day before Valentines Day

A declaration of love in the Wellington City Council debating chamber, a day before Valentines Day

A heated debate over proposed parking policy changes yesterday, saw councillors fire jibes across the table - particularly at green-leaning councillor Iona Pannett.

After giving his reasons for not supporting Pannett's amendment, Sean Rush whispered he loved her.

He didn't realise his microphone was still on.

Pannett then referred to right-leaning Rush as her BFF as she picked apart his amendments.

Mayor Andy Foster told councillors at the end of the meeting they need to reflect on what they say, and how they say it.
