Canterbury Regional Council is warning boaties to beware of submerged debris in Lake Aviemore

Canterbury Regional Council is warning boaties to beware of submerged debris in Lake Aviemore

There are fears a violent downpour might dislodge logs from the surrounding hillside, which could end up in the water.

Deputy Harbourmaster Gary Manch says the debris can sit just a few inches below the surface.

Manch warns it could cause serious damage to any vessel it comes into contact with, so boaties should drive slowly.
