Disagreement over mass transit between two Wellington mayoral candidates

Disagreement over mass transit between two Wellington mayoral candidates

Incumbent Justin Lester and councillor Andy Foster went head to head in the Newstalk ZB - NZ Herald mayoral debate last night.

The 6.4 billion dollar Let's Get Wellington Moving package was a hot topic.

Lester says they need to get on with mass transit.

But Foster says mass transit doesn't stack up only carrying four or five percent of people.

He says he'd take it out of the budget as it'll add 55-million dollars to the rates every year.
