A Wellington city councillor is encouraging others to report threats made online

Rebecca Matthews received a death threat on Twitter late last year.

Major Insurance broker Aon NZ has confirmed the threat was made by one of its employees.

It's carried out an investigation and says the person no longer works for the company.

Matthews says she's happy she reported it.

She says people who make threats want to scare you and she's pleased to see consequences for such behaviour.
